Flap Surgery

What is Flap Surgery?

When Do You Need Flap Surgery?
- Deep gum pockets that don’t respond to regular cleanings or scaling and root planing
- Advanced periodontitis with bone loss or persistent gum inflammation
- Loose teeth caused by gum detachment or weakened bone support
- Visible tartar or calculus deposits below the gumline
- Unhealed gum infections despite medications or nonsurgical therapy
Flap Surgery Procedure
Anesthesia & Incision
Local anesthesia is administered, and a small flap is gently created in the gum to access deep plaque and tartar.
Deep Cleaning
Bacteria, tartar and infected tissue are thoroughly removed from the tooth roots and bone.
Reshaping & Treatment
Irregular bone surfaces may be smoothed and medication may be applied to promote healing.
Flap Closure
The gum flap is repositioned and stitched back securely to allow proper healing and reattachment.
